TaipaVet

Nurse

The love I have for animals is something I have felt for the longest time, so when I received an unexpected call from Dr. Alex in 2015 to interview for a job as a veterinary assistant, I was excited but extremely nervous at the same time.

My first two months at TaipaVet were amazing, from helping animals to assisting in incredible surgeries to learning more about animal medicine in general.

On my very first day I actually assisted in a surgery and it was a surreal feeling! Whenever I’m needed for translating anything into Chinese, the clients certainly find it humorous sometimes because of the strange and unusual terms I use if I can’t think of the exact word in the moment.

For example, when I first started working at the clinic, I didn’t know the term for anaesthesia exactly, so I said Mahjong accidentally (it sounds similar but really isn’t), which was very amusing for the client but also very odd.

Working at TaipaVet has been such an incredible experience, sharing with wonderful coworkers and clients the same love and care we feel for dogs and cats.

Of course there are some challenging and sad days at the clinic, but with the support of my colleagues as well as my dog Pipa (who accompanies me to work every day), those days aren’t as sad as they could be.

Throughout the years the clinic has blossomed into an amazing place and I’m so glad to be part of it!
